Activities

The following activities would take place at the HOPE Center:

1. Prayer

A. The HOPE Center will provide a space for all religious traditions to engage in their particular activities of prayer. The center will not seek to create fusion between religions, or to develop a neutral or universal form of prayer, suitable for all. Rather, praying alongside one another will be the hallmark of the HOPE Center.

B. An ongoing presence of prayer for peace will be maintained by each of the participating traditions throughout the day. Thus, the HOPE Center will deliver a powerful message and model by maintaining ongoing prayer for peace by all religions.

2. Education

A. The HOPE center will teach the public at large about religions, through exhibits, audiovisual presentations and a variety of museum-related media. Elijah's partnership with the Museum of World Religions is particularly helpful here.

B. The HOPE Center will offer lectures and classes on the different religions as well as a variety of teaching and learning opportunities on interreligious issues and on contemporary issues, seen from the perspective of all world religions.

C. The HOPE Center will hold meetings of scholars in symposia, seminars and conferences. These activities will address both the scholarly and academic community and the broader public.

3. Interreligious Meetings

As the only interreligious center, shared by the different religions in Jerusalem, the HOPE Center will provide the natural venue for meetings of local and international religious leaders, as well as of religious activists on the grassroots level.

4. As the Holy Land's only interfaith center, the HOPE Center will naturally draw international attention, and in particular draw the attention of pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Land. International goodwill, tourism, practical initiatives and prayer can be associated with the HOPE Center in a variety of ways, in person and from a distance. The vision and activities of the HOPE Center can be shared via various media with publics outside the Holy Land.
